R3 — For shippers

The R3 uploads its readings over the cellular network. At origin your job is installation and activation — nothing to plug in, no cable, and no app is needed to start recording.

1. Start the device

The R3 has one button, marked STATUS. Press and hold for about 5 seconds, until the LCD shows a flashing R next to the temperature.

That is the whole check: R flashing + temperature = Recording. The device samples and uploads from that moment on.

A few seconds later the screen content fades out. That is normal — the R3 is still recording, the screen is only saving power. Press the button briefly whenever you want to read it again.

Warning: After the device has started, only press briefly. Holding the button again for about 5 seconds stops recording.

2. Switch the temperature unit (optional)

While the device is recording, double-click the button to switch the reading between °C and °F.

3. Check that the device is reporting

The same QR code the receiver will scan works as your check at origin: if the trip record opens and shows readings, the R3 is uploading.

Before the boxes leave:

1. Mount the tracker securely per your SOP.
2. Note the serial number on the label — receivers can look the trip up with it, or by scanning the QR code.
3. Confirm the device appears online in Vista or the Cydiance app within your activation window.
