The C1 is Cydiance's standard USB temperature logger. It has no Bluetooth and no screen: one button starts recording; at destination you plug the USB connector in and the device writes PDF + CSV on board — no extra software required. Silent Records keeps a factory backup CSV if the shipper forgets to start.

What's in the box: Device in its food-grade waterproof bag. Do not remove the bag until USB readout at destination.

1.1 Button and LEDs

One physical button. Hold to start; short-press to mark or to confirm the logger is still running. There is no stop gesture.

2.1 Start the device

1. Press and hold the button for 5 seconds until both LEDs light up.
2. For the first 30 minutes the blue Working LED blinks twice every 2 seconds.
3. After 30 minutes the LED stops blinking to save battery.
4. To confirm the logger is still active, press the button once. If the LED blinks, it is running.
5. While logging, a single press creates a MARK (blue LED on 1 second). You can make up to 8 marks.
6. The logger cannot be stopped manually; it stops when the data limit is reached.

2.2 Place in the shipment

When possible, use two loggers for the simplest temperature mapping:

1. Place one at the container air outlet to record supply-air temperature from the refrigeration unit.
2. Place one at the container door to capture temperature coverage across the load.

Keep each logger in its plastic bag during transport.

2.3 Receiving side

When the trip is complete, connect the logger by USB. PDF and CSV are generated on the device — no extra software required.

3.1 With a PC

1. Remove the plastic bag if needed.
2. Plug the USB connector into the computer.
3. Wait until PDF and CSV files appear (typically under a minute).

3.2 With an Android phone

1. Use a suitable USB OTG adapter.
2. Plug in the logger and open the files from your file manager.

3.3 What is in the report

The onboard PDF is built from the full trip dataset (up to 14,400 points) so short temperature spikes stay visible — not a smoothed thumbnail. 3.4 Optional — Cydiance Logger Reader (Windows)

Receiving desks that plug many USB loggers can run Cydiance Logger Reader: it watches USB, imports the CSV, and opens a local browser view. Not required for a single readout.

Shipping side: §2 or C1 — For shippers.

Improper storage, installation, or shipment/container placement causing damage is not covered under warranty (see §7.2).

The C1 is powered by a built-in 3.0V CR2032 lithium metal coin cell. It is not user-replaceable. The cell is contained in the equipment (not shipped as a spare battery).

For air transport the C1 is treated as UN3091 — lithium metal batteries contained in equipment — under IATA DGR Packing Instruction 970 Section II. Most carriers accept Section II without a full dangerous-goods declaration when lithium content stays below 1 g/cell; confirm any operator variations with the airline. Sea: IMDG Code 2018 P903. This is the opposite case from the R3 (Ni-MH, not lithium).

5.3 What Cydiance can provide on request

5.4 Safety notes

• Do not puncture, crush, drop, or incinerate the device.
• Do not disassemble the device or attempt to replace the coin cell.
• Keep away from children and pets — coin cells are an ingestion hazard.
• Do not place near fire or operate outside the ranges in §4.
• Stop using the device and contact support@cydiance.com if you notice swelling, leakage, discoloration, or an unusual smell.

Before contacting support, have ready: order reference, device serial number(s), product model (C1), description of the fault, and evidence (photos / PDF / CSV) if available.

7.1 Coverage

• C1 hardware defects not caused by the customer, for the warranty period stated on the device label and your distributor agreement (12 months typical).
• Warranty period starts on arrival at the distributor unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• Within the labeled Shelf life / Service life, a battery-related failure preventing documented operation is warranty-eligible (subject to evaluation).

7.2 Exclusions (highlights)

• Physical damage, unauthorized disassembly/modification/repair
• Operation or storage outside the specified temperature ranges (§4)
• Removed/defaced labels or serial numbers (including Shelf life / Service life markings)
• Battery end-of-life wear after labeled Shelf life / Service life
• Improper storage, installation, or shipment placement; bag removed in transit when IP67 was required
• Cargo loss, spoilage, or business interruption — the C1 is a monitoring tool, not covered

7.3 How to request service

1. Contact your authorized Cydiance partner or support@cydiance.com.
2. Provide order reference, serial number(s), model (C1), and fault description.
3. Wait for return authorization before shipping devices back — follow lithium-battery packaging/safety instructions (UN3091; see §5).
